Cabo San Lucas Beaches

Well we couldn't have a web page without first mentioning Cabo San Lucas' most famous and most popular beach, Playa El Medano, also called the Dune. The Dune is the most family orientated beach in Cabo and it is the main beach. The Dune is 2 miles in length and stretches from the marina to the front door of Villa del Palmar. El Medano is also the best place to swim in Cabo San Lucas, as some of the beaches in Cabo San Lucas are not recommended for swimming because of currents. Along this beach you will find restaurants and bars and vendors for jet skiing, snorkeling, para-sailing, dive excursions. You will also find rentals of wave runners, boats, sailboats, surf boards and anything else you think of that goes in the water. You could also enjoy some volleyball, people watching, swimming or dine at one of the restaurants. This beach is where any family could spend the whole day and not be bored. You can get to Playa El Medano by walking down to the Marina Fiesta or you can go towards Camino Hotel Hacienda although you might have to park a few block away.

Playa del Amor has some beautiful rock formations along the beach to marvel. This beach is were the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meets, to read more about what happens when the two bodies meet, read our Cabo San Lucas Ocean page. Playa del Amor can be found behind Cabo's famous landmark arch. This beach is not filled with as many vendors as you will find at El Medano but there are some. Playa del Amor is located across from El Medano, to access this beach you will need to take a water taxi or rent a kayak, as it is only accessible by boat.

Playa Solmar is about 5 minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas. This beach is excellent for whale watching, or sunsets. This beach is not for swimming actually swimming is not possible as the currents are way too strong. This beach is located along the beach between Land's End and El Pedegral. You can access the beach thru any of the three resorts Playa Grande, Terra Sol and Solmar. Unfortunately there are no services and few vendors on this beach particularly because it doesn't allow swimming.
